Local Compassion Ministries

We believe God calls all Christians to show compassion to those in need.
Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. Psalm 82:3-4
The Compassion Ministry at PBC exists to provide opportunities and resources for our church body to show compassion to those in need through the giving of financial gifts and through intentional hands-on partnerships with credible agencies that care for the needs of the poor, the homeless and the oppressed in the DFW Metroplex. Four widows, in Kennedale, founded Oakcrest Family Church in 1993. In 1996 their pastor, Jim Norwood, felt led to take the widow’s vision to the next level. Sitting directly behind the ‘red-light’ district that can be seen near the 820 / I-20 interchange, Oakcrest Family Church is passionate for reaching those that have fallen and need physical and spiritual assistance to get on their feet again. Oakcrest is a wonderful place for PBC individuals, Home Group, or Community Groups to get involved. Their mission is to minister to ex-offenders and families of those incarcerated by giving them a new start in life beginning with Jesus.

The Community Enrichment Center’s (CEC) mission is to restore hope, share God’s love and change lives in our community. The CEC is a faith-based non-profit serving Tarrant County families in crisis by providing the resources, tools and encouragement these families need to improve their lives and become self-sufficient. The CEC serves over 31,000 people per year. Last year alone, over 700,000 pounds of food were donated to the elderly, working poor, and the homeless. In 1990, CEC started the Adopt-A-Family program. The goal is to assist homeless families to become self-sufficient. PBC can be involved at the community group, home group, and individual levels to serve at the food pantry or mentor families through the Adopt-A-Family program.
